It's time to start planning again! My next trip over is scheduled for early summer. My wife, Lisa, is planning to accompany me this time, as is David, a pastor from Texas who has gone to Uganda with us twice before. Ray and Bill are planning to join the team. Neither of them have been to Africa.
Our trip will be shorter this time: only two weeks. Our purpose is to visit the kids I missed during Christmas. I will also be teaching a bit about starting businesses and taking care of money. Lisa and Ray will work with the kids. Bill, who teaches computer applications classes at the community college where I work, will be teaching spreadsheet and email classes.
Just before prior trips, some of our team members have been tormented with health issues. I had to have knee surgery only five weeks before one of our trips. Allen, who went over on our second trip, ruptured a disk in his neck about six weeks before he was scheduled to go with us. It worked out great for both of us, but the therapy required to get in shape for Africa was certainly no fun!
For this trip, I've been diagnosed with a "fun" little problem, and Ray is facing surgery in the coming week. Pray for us as we plan!
